Commentary
:The holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam himself had named his son Ibraaheem. Besides, it is distinctly stated in a Tradition, quoted in Aboo Daawood etc., that the Apostle of Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: "Give name after the names of the Apostles.
The holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam , also, gave names to some children which conveyed a good meaning, but were not among the known names of the Prophets. For instance, his grandsons Hasan and Husayn, and gave the name of Munzir to the son of an Ansaari Companion radhiyallahu anhu.
Be that as it may, we get the guidance from the sayings and practice of the holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi
wasallam that it is the responsibility of the parents to give good names to
their children or have them christened by a pious person.
