The Method for the Interpretation of the  Holy Qur'aan

Before I bring forth evidence to support the meaning which the Muslims have taken of the term "Khaatamun Nabiyyeen", let me quote a passage (concerning the commentary of Qur'aan) from the book of the great Mufassir, Allaamah Suyootee rahmatullahi alayh. He writes in his book, Al-Itqaan:

"The scholars of Islaam have said, 'Whoever wishes to see the commentary and the interpretation of the Qur'aan, should firstly look in the Qur'aan itself. Because, if it is short and comprehensive in one place, it will be full of details in the next. If he is unable to find it in the Holy Qur'aan, he should turn towards the Ahaadeeth of the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam because it explains and clarifies the Qur'aan.' Imaam Shaafi'ee rahmatullahi alayh has said, 'Every judgement given by the Holy Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam is based on what he has understood from the holy Qur'aan'. If he is unable to find it in the Ahaadeeth, he should refer to the sayings of the Sahaabah radhiyallahu anhum because they were present when the Qur'aan was being revealed, and they have learnt (and understood) the Qur'aan directly from the Holy Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam to whom it was revealed."

(Al-Itqaan, Page 175, Volume 2).

'After these three sources (i.e. the Holy Qur'aan, the Ahaadeeth and the sayings of the Sahaabah radhiyallahu anhum), one must refer to those books which contain the opinions of the Sahaabah and Taabi'een radhiyallahu anhum, e.g. Tafseer of Ibne Jareer, Ibne Abi Haatim, Ibne Maajah, Haakim, Ibne Hibbaan, etc.'

(Al-Itqaan, Page 190, Volume 2).

'If one still cannot find the "Tafseer", (and this is very rare), then he should refer to the Arabic language, because the Qur'aan was revealed in thislanguage'.

(Al-Itqaan, Page 121, Volume I).

Shaykh-ul-Islaam, Allaamah Ibne Taymiyyah has also stressed the same point in his book, Muqaddamah Fi Usool at Tafseer,

(Pages 93-l05).

Let us now follow the aforementioned sequence of interpreting the Qur'aan and see whether the Islaamic interpretation is correct or the Qadiani interpretation?
