jeer of the non believers at the Muslims
The unique experience of Me'raaj provided a suitable opportunity for the non believers to jeer at the Muslims. They pestered the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam with questions as to the description of Masjid-ul-Aqsaa in Jerusalem, where he had never gone before. However, to the astonishment and amazement of many, his answers provided accurate information regarding the Mosque.
Reply of Abu Bakr to the non believers
They came to Abu Bakr radhiyallahu anhu and
inquired whether he believed
in the story of his friend. Abu Bakr asked, "Did Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi
wasallam actually say
this?" "Yes." they answered. Abu Bakr said, "Yes. I believe it."
The unbelievers exclaimed, "Do you testify that Muhammad sallallahu alayhi
wasallam went to Jerusalem and returned within the short span of the
night?" He replied, "By Allah, if Muhammad sallallahu alayhi
wasallam has said so
then it is true. Remember that the Prophet receives the word of Allah directly from heaven at any time of the day or
night. Is not that a greater miracle than what you doubt now?"
Then Abu Bakr radhiyallahu anhu went to the Mosque and heard the Prophet's description of Jerusalem and exclaimed, "O Prophet of Allah, you tell the truth."
It was on
this occasion that he earned the title of "Siddeeque" (the verifier of truth).
